Cassie is the lead designer at her firm, Made with Grace and Grit, in Sioux Falls, SD. She has a passion for creating fun, family-friendly designs. She'd been following my Associate Coach's Instagram @lesleymyrick for a while before reaching out to me. This is Cassie's story.
Meeting Cassie
Cassie enjoyed a decent amount of success in her first few years of business, focusing on helping busy families create spaces that serve them well and elevate their daily experience. However, she found herself facing new challenges.
Cassie wasn't earning enough as a designer or making enough profit from furnishings. She felt frustrated and overwhelmed, struggling with sourcing for maximum profit, attracting ideal clients consistently, maintaining work-life balance, and adjusting her pricing for profitability.
Many of her recent projects were small and time-consuming, not aligned with her preferred niche. Cassie was experiencing burnout and was no longer focusing on what she loved most - creating beautiful spaces.
Listening and Understanding
Cassie needed more than advice; she needed a straightforward action plan with accountability to see it through. After filling out an application for group coaching, we scheduled a chat.
My top priority was to listen carefully to understand her vision, goals, and challenges. Every designer is unique, so there is no one-size-fits-all solution.
Cassie had a clear vision for the future but needed help connecting the dots to find a profitable path. She needed to reflect her passion (her greatest strength) in her brand and exude confidence while setting better boundaries.
Crafting a New Path
Cassie excelled at design but struggled with overdelivering, undercharging, and organizing her client onboarding process. She needed to confidently tell potential clients when her firm wasn't the right fit and promote her services effectively.
We devised a plan to create a more compelling portfolio that showcased her work, reflecting her passion and expertise. We crafted a marketing strategy to target ideal clients by identifying the platforms and networks they frequented and creating content that attracted them.
Additionally, I shared strategies for setting boundaries and saying no. We discussed time management tips to help Cassie complete tasks more efficiently and focus on projects she was passionate about.
Positive Outcomes
Once Cassie learned to communicate her value and expertise confidently, she began attracting clients who appreciated her unique style and commitment to excellence. She started landing jobs that fit right into her niche without compromising her fees.
Her clients accepted her higher rates without hesitation, recognizing the value she brought to their projects. A memorable moment in Cassie's journey was when she called me, ecstatic about landing her first large-scale project. The client was impressed with her portfolio and passion.
Because of her newfound confidence, they accepted her fees without question. Positive outcomes like these are a testament to Cassie's hard work.
