Join us for an exciting and informative meeting where we’ll hear from industry experts (Alameda Cleaners & Rose City Upholstery) about the benefits of reusing and upgrading well-built furniture as part of sustainable design practices. Reupholstering furniture is a smart, eco-friendly choice for interior designers looking to offer clients high-quality, personalized pieces while reducing waste. This not only minimizes the demand for cheaply produced, mass-market furniture—which often comes with a heavy environmental toll, such as deforestation and landfill overflow—but also gives designers the opportunity to create unique, custom-tailored pieces that truly reflect your client’s style.
We’ll also introduce you to Microseal—a revolutionary fabric protection solution that could change how you approach fabric care. Experience its incredible benefits firsthand and discover why it’s becoming a game-changer in the industry.
Let’s come together to learn, grow, and strengthen our design community!

Our Expert Presenters:
Keynote Speaker: Mandy Szigethy - Rose City Upholstery
Mandy discovered upholstery while completing her Theater Technology degree at Indiana University and decided to forsake the stage in favor of the workshop. She has had the unique opportunity to work in both furniture manufacturing at Beachley Furniture and now custom upholstery as the owner of Rose City Upholstery in Portland. She has received training in both modern materials and traditional methods and is able to apply time-tested techniques to all of her projects. Her passion for revitalizing and repurposing home furnishings has led to an in-depth--if unintentional--comparison between older and newer furniture, and the potential of any antique store or curbside find.
Kristi Cullum - Customer Relations at Alameda Cleaners and MicroSeal
Kristi has been with Alameda for 8+ years, and is the main point of contact for Microseal.
Rhona Raye - Office Manager at Alameda Cleaners
Rhona is our office manager and our incredible charcuterie board creator!

Our Host: Portland Microseal by Alameda Cleaners
Alameda is the exclusive representative for Microseal for the greater Portland area. We are primarily a carpet, upholstery and rug cleaning company, with a rug cleaning plant at our location. Dick Middlebrooks, the founder, has been in the industry for 45 years. We are a family-owned and run small business. Microseal is a premium fabric protection that, in our opinion, is the best on the market.
Kristi and Rhona are thrilled to host their 3rd IDS chapter meeting, and trust us, you won’t want to miss it! Have you experienced the magic of Microseal yet? If not, get ready for a revelation that will change how you think about fabric protection! Join our passionate team as we share insights and showcase the incredible benefits of Microseal in action.
